Who are we?

The Tourism and Society Think Tank is comprised of professional experts in different areas of tourism and society, regardless of the corporate and institutional positions they represent, and is a great space for reflection, consultancy and advice for tourism and social professionals, companies, and institutions in general.

The objectives of the TSTT are aimed at providing information and pointing out the risks and opportunities of a sector whose social, economic and cultural impact is of the first order, while at the same time contributing to the knowledge of the tourism industry, the types of tourism and its social impact, and analysing tourism trends with the participation of related actors and agents.

The Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT) allows the promotion and communication between professionals through professional meetings, publications, interviews, etc.

Objetives

The Tourism and Society Think Tank aims to develop programmes, activities and advice for sustainable tourism that reduces the impact on the environment.

The main key is that the exploitation of resources should be below the limit of resource renewal. In other words, the aim is to promote tourism that respects the ecosystem, with minimum impact on the environment and local culture, while promoting and enhancing the cultural identity of the territory. Furthermore, from an economic point of view, it promotes the generation of employment and income for the local population with the aim of improving social development.

  • To provide information and point out the risks and opportunities of a sector whose social, economic and cultural impact is of the first order.

  • To contribute to the knowledge of the tourism industry, the types of tourism and its social impact.

  • To analyze tourism trends with the participation of related actors and agents.

Engagement

Tourism and Society Think Tank in accordance with the World Tourism Organization (WTO), an international organization linked to the United Nations since 1976, is working on the three keys to achieving sustainable tourism:

  • Optimization of environmental resources.

  • Respect, differentiation and enhancement of local culture.

  • Distribution of wealth, and guaranteeing economic activities that last over time and that there is balance in the distribution of socioeconomic benefits.
